Ive got Eve Online sitting at home had it in a sealed box for nearly two years :s But never got around to playing it at all...

Anyone still playing it on here, any tips etc or guides to read?

Ive been tempted to re-activate my account for a while now but it seems you can no longer pay by paypal so i cant be arsed.

I always found the best way to get started is always get yourself into a friendly corp (guild) as soon as possible and they will ease you inot the game and get you going.

bored of the manontamy of eve, probably all mmorpg to an extent.

you may be better off downloading the client off the net and trying the 30 day trial, then if its got all the stuff you want, use the cd key to activate it for you full unlocked month (or 3? cant remember the cd key sub length).

if its not your cup of tea sell it on.

What you have in that boxed copy is a 30 day Game Time Card tied to a CD-Key to create an account. Most players join the game by just picking up a 14 day trial and turning it into a full subscription. With that copy you go straight to full subscription for a month. After that its up to you if you want to continue paying for subs (?14.95 a month). The PayPal option is broken atm, its either CC, DC or one of the other PayByCash options.

Tbh I would keep the boxset to one side and give the trial a blast. The trial is restricted to a basic couple of ships and some other game functions but most players only find themselves limited by this is if they start charging towards Battleships straight away Give it a try for 2 weeks, see if you like it. If you do you can either go full subs and continue that char, or use that key to create a char anew armed with a bit more knowledge about a good char setup.

Dooms is right about getting into a friendly corp. You get to grips with the game so much faster then aimlesslly wandering around in an NPC corp. Player corps tend to help the new guys by providing ISK, Ships, Equipment, skills and on the job training (jet can mining, hauling, grouped missions, ship setups) so its well worth it.

Im still playing after 2 years now Have gone from the best miner carebear in the world to blasting the hell out of other alliances for territory. Latest antics have been flying with 3 other alliances (Huzzah, Vox Imperium and Smash) kicking FIX out of Querious space.

Where Have All The Good Fix Gone - Some of the huge fleet battles we had a couple of months ago claiming a system. The 2nd fleet battle in that vid lasted over an hour with about 240 ships from both sides involved (For reference, purple / green / blue are friendlies, red are enemies)

I think there was a good guide in the back pages of this/last months PC gamer iirc.  Other than that, google or use the Eve forums for tips I imagine.

CD-Keys cant activate a trial account to a full account. You have to run a trial, then make a new full account using the cd. Then ask the GMS to transfer your accounts over for free.

I still play over a year now, but I have had to take a leave of absence due to lack of dosh, and exams.

I play EVE a lot since B3TA and followed in development, I must say its lived up to my expectations and continues to be big name in MMORPGs.

I fancied playing & reactive my account the other day but paypal isnt working.

Paypal option is messed on the PayByCash side of things, it hasnt been working for a while.

CCs, DCs and bank transfers should all still work fine

reactivated my account last night as it happens.

Just working up the isk for a raven, ive got the skills i need for it.

erm im gonna take a while no money at the moment, if I can spare some dosh at the end of the month Ill subscribe At the moment though the corp is out around the esescama system. Weve basically managed to turn into a massive POS owning thing in 0.0 loads of the corp are now individual owners of their own POS not me though as im skint as hell, and currently flying a raven with 4 miner IIs an assault launcher and a single siege launcher.

But yeah, and apparantly were in an alliance now of our own making
