I used to use MBM5 back in the day to check temps

Been outta the loop for a while, whats best to use on the newer boards?

knighty

I always used speedfan.... small, quick, shows all your temps and fan speeds... and lets you control the fan speeds manually or automatically depending on pre-set temps.....

I'd google and make sure it's up to date and works with your m/b tho :-)

Ran speedfan on it:

Hdd and Core look good, any idea what temp3 is? Never seems to change.  Board is a gigabyte ga-ma770t-ud3.

knighty

it's probably just a red herring..... check it after you've just started up, if it's still high like that just disable it :-)

Sorted out my PSU, installed a 92mm exhaust fan and removed the shroud from the side intake

first boot:

Seems that 78-80c is changing.. any ideas what it could be?

Binary Shadow

Several hours of normal running and using a combination of easytune and speed fan it looks like my temps are

HDD 40C
System 46C
CPU 29C (or 38C if you believe speedfan)

Not bad, im tempted to run some superpi or something and see how it copes with some stress.

knighty

39 core sounds normal to me !

29 is very low.... reboot and check the temps in the bios ;)

Your case temps look a little high considering the time of year ...unless you keep the room very warm?  that will be toasty come the summer. I always try to keep my HDD's in the low 30's they seem to live a lot longer :)

Binary Shadow

The room is around 24-28c this time of year, in the summer it easily gets over 32c

you mustn't let out the magic smoke!

knighty

have you run any kind of cpu stress test to see how hot it gets ?

run one..... and see how hot it gets.... then run a gfx one to increase case temps.....

if they're all ok then you can forget about having to monitor the tempos :-)
