years ago I was in my local Kebab house, I got  petrol earlier a customer in
the P/S reported me to the Police for  drink driving, they came in my Kebab
shop and said go outside to our car, the two breathalysed me and I passed,
one copper said I was on drugs and arrested me, idiots had a van, I was thrown  in
the back, my trip to the station was very uncomfortable, at the station they
didn't believe me either, I said ring my Dad  or the Kebab shop they will
confirm my Ataxia, still nothing they undressed me and threw me into a
cell, after 8 hours a Police doctor interviewed me under caution and after
ages the Doc realized I was being truthful and opened the cell, their
attitudes changed, they were so nice its hard to believe those idiots
arrested me.

You should have taken their badge numbers down and reported to their seniors for that kind of treatment.

I must admit, when you used to ring Tekheads I thought you were three sheets to the wind.
Until I realised, then felt bad :(

tbh to me it sounds like you are expecting too much from the PC's

They wont be medically trained and will have had everyone they have ever tried to nick try something to get out of it.

Its not them its the world we live in.

Back then you didn't know of my Ataxia, I gave the Police 2 options, ring my dad or the Kebab shop.

I still have my first water block fromm Tekheads.

I think it was a long time later that I was aware.

The Police in sweden often mistakes people with epilepsy for being drunk and they usually have a neclace with a symbol telling this guy have epilepsy !!!

I'm not sure the initial mistake is what bugs Privateer, after all ultimately 99.9 times out of 100 when the cops meet a person displaying substantial lack of muscular coordination it's going to be because that person is drunk or stoned.

The problem as far as I can see it is that it took quite so long for him to manage to get someone to even entertain the idea that he might be telling the truth.

Obviously you can't get into a situation where drunks and druggies can just claim Ataxia and get off scot free, but given that everything about us is stored on these darned central databases these days surely there could be a mechanism whereby Privateer could give the cops permission to query his medical records as to whether or not he has the claimed condition. It wouldn't need to give them access to the whole shebang, just a simple database query ought to do it, subject claims to have Ataxia, true or false. Comes back true you let him go on his way, comes back false you haul him in and add lieing to a police officer to the list of transgressions.

I don't see why that's not possible, I really don't see why it should only be hackers and identity theves who get any benefit out of these databases.
