I'm sure there are some decent coppers about... I only know one copper personally and he's a decent/common sense kind of guy...

it's just all the morons giving them a bad name.... morons + broken system = buggered

police/teachers should be well paid, as to attract better people to the jobs and give them a better choice of people to employ...

lets face it, not many smart people want to be coppers, and those that do want to be / will be promoted pretty quick...

Quixoticish

I've met a couple of nice coppers and a few especially nice PCSO's in the past, but it is true that you tend to remember the bad meetings and forget the good ones. As Knighty has pointed out policing tends to be like teaching; it's a vocation rather than a job and you have to be a certain kind of person to be good at it, but sadly mountains of paperwork and bureaucracy coupled with a large amount of people joining these vocational jobs for the wrong reasons has resulted in a very warped public perception of the professions as a whole.

Unfortunately, this is what I think is going to happen to you, it always seems to be when you're apparently to blame they're right there, but as soon as you need their help they just can't be bothered.

You'd be equally as upset if they invented evidence, but you cry foul when they can't do anything because there is no evidence.
