building a machine for a mate, it's just for in his office running word/excel/ie and an accounts package....

this look ok to everyone ?
(going to install win7 ultimate 64bit)

I know the SSD is overkill..... but he'll be installing next to nothing on it... so might as well get one ?

his current office pc is.... well I can't remember... but I gave it to him about 7 years ago... and it was old enough that I swapped it for a box of oranges (he's in fruit and veg)

#1
p.s. could save a few quid with an case+psu combo... but I've never had much luck with cheap psu's

i think he'd rather spend the extra tenner and have it be more reliable

might use this screen (£95) instead of the one i picked earlier (£72)

I would say get the better monitor, but scrap the HD just get one half the price, there wont be any real point in getting it, and you also might have problems mounting it?

Also you may need to get sata cables? How many come with the mobo?

knighty

I've got plenty of sata cables lying round so that's no problem...

I spent a while thinking about the HD before I made up the order..... the way I see it is, the space difference will make no difference at all, all it will have on is office and an accounts program.... so the only down side is the price difference.... for £30 extra it should be a massive speed increase ?
(even if he hardly does anything to use it)

I know we all love building and setting up PC's but if he is such a low end user it might just be worth getting a ready made one from PCworld, tesco etc.

somthing like this maybe

I looked around at a few but wasn't very impressed..... by the time you add in a screen etc.. they're not much cheaper?

he's not short of cash, but at the same time doesn't want to spend money on things he won't use... it's more about bank for buck than cost...

IMO go for a real hard disc, doesnt need the speed and it a % of the price...
