A rather wonderful early mediaeval hack 'n slash with James Purefoy being hard as nails, Paul Giamatti being evil as hell, Brian Cox being lordly, Jason Flemyng being moody and tortured, Kata Mara being rather attractive and Vladimir Kulich being an angry Viking (again).

Quite spectacular for a relatively low budget film, lots of action, a bit of over the top gore, some enjoyable charachter development. As far as medieval type films go this is everything the horrendous Ridley Scott Robin Hood film should have been.

Essentially the film is like Kingdom of Heaven but on a lower budget. And with a big set of brass balls instead of a neatly trimmed lady garden.
