Looking at a gfx card to replace the el budget one i bought.

What do people think of the HD 5770? or can something better be had for around £130

There was a 560Ti on hotukdeals yesterday for £150 but its expired now, probably worth keeping an eye on there.

5770 is a DX11 equivalent of a 4850 and it runs a bit cooler, so its crap tbh.

The 560ti is ok but they are a premium compared to its Red Team opponent which can be had for £140 ish normal price, £131 ish on special at Aria today or even cheaper on Scan when it comes on offer, me and Nige paid about £125 for the OC'd Black Edition with Free Deus Ex.

Don't forget the £100 postage Aria charge

I know nothing about todays gfx cards aside from

its gotta be PCI-E 16x for my board
it'll have some memory on it, probably gddr5?
needs to be DX11 and have HDMI and DVI out

so whats the real world difference between the HD 5770 and the 560Ti?

560 Ti is more efficient , has DX 11.
460 is a very good card , can be had for around £130 , i know above what you asked for
but worth it.

Stop messing around with nVidia and get yourself a 6870, you will regret going green.

Going to hold off ordering now anyway since i totalled my car

I got a 460 at the start of the year and it plays crapplefield 3 at full bells and whistles in 1080p even underclocked to minimum

These cards are noisy though, hence the underclocked to minimum part (fan speed manually set to minimum also)

Can't hear my 6870 black edition at all during normal operation or even playing games, the fan never goes above 40% and thats with me bitcoin mining 24x7. Lovely card

I'll be paying serious attention to the next GFX card I buy, I cannot put up with any card that varies its RPM speed, or is set too loud, drives me up the wall 

 Matt Has your case got a dedicated side fan for the graphics?  460's are not known as overly noisy cards IIRC what sort of temps you getting? 

Yes got a side vent blowing right onto it! it gets hot like cooking pot though still, the fan on it is a noisy high RPM pos.

Like I said though underclocked and the fan set to minimum RPM its fine
