Well I'm moving house and wanting to take the opportunity to replace my speaker cable.

The cable I'm using is very skinny and out of some home entertainment package thing.

Been looking on maplin but cant work out whats good value. Thinking at 10M roll might be worth a look.

OFC i guess but shielded? i dunno, recommendations?

The speakers I have are yamaha ones, not the best but seem to be ok. Using an onkyo av receiver to drive it all.

Use lighting flex.  The twin core stuff.
I know some proper audiophiles and that's all they use.

As long as it's good quality copper (OFC) thats as good as you need really, shielding isn't important unless you plan on lying your cable runs parallel to something pumping out heavy interference. I couldn't comment on lighting flex but I'm sure its better than the standard bell wire.

I've been wiring audio systems in bars and pubs the last few months and have been using 0.75mm^2 twin flex and the quality has been really good.

One can go 1.5 mm^2 also especially if speakers are far away.

How much do you actually need? I'd say measure and buy whatever length you need in cable from Richer Sounds as having the correct length is beneficial, the Cambridge audio cables are cheaper than Maplins prices, free delivery and should be just fine for what you're looking for: http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separates/accessories/speaker-cables

If  interference that might be an issue you could always twirl it like twisted pair. Otherwise any decent copper cable will do, I've never seen anything that proves that any option is better than another. Claims of "oxygen free" copper are redundant.

You can get pretty decent stuff off eBay, but if it's hidden regular twin core is fine

The flat stuff is handy to hide under carpets for a really neat finish
