I just caught and evicted this little guy in my bathroom, anyone care to hazard a guess what it is?

sorry for the poor photography, the light isn't great at this time of night!

I'd say it was about 6mm long with multiple (2 or 3) pointy tail bits which don't really show up well in the picture. It was fast too, I only just caught it before it would have disappeared between floorboards.

A not so silver silverfish.

They're common in households, feed on sugars in wallpaper, carpets, and the scum in your bathtub etc. I think they're in most houses, but if you see lots of them it suggests you need to do some cleaning!

EDIT:

Here's a wiki link for you:

Don't be silly Zpyder, Mongoose has his house built out of Minecraft stone blocks, that's the only explanation  :)

Mongoose

indeed, it's the Ghasts which keep spawning by my nether portal in the basement which are really causing trouble! Still it makes getting to work so much faster!

* Post bugs and stuff tbh *

Think this is a woodlouse spider of some sort but it was proper big.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Mongoose

according to my information, your bug would have eaten my bug given the chance!

Yeah, woodlouse spider. Best give a wide berth as they have big fangs  :o

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

This is the bigest visitor I've had so far this summer, I had to be rescued by the wife as it had me cornered.

zpyder

Meh, these guys are your friends, catching and eating all the other things in the house...

Clock'd 0Ne

I have yet to see an indoor spider's web that has ever actually caught any of the other annoying insects

Jesus, I'd have moved out. Chuff it, the house is yours mr spider!

Mongoose

if you want to see spiders, come up with an excuse to explore some derelict buildings. I worked for a while as an assistant building surveyor and some of the ones I saw..... lets just say that despite being slightly arachnophobic I am no longer concerned by anything you meet in an inhabited house.

I feel the same after a year in Australia chasing huntsmen spiders so they will jump towards a friend :P
