fellas, used to be on here a long time ago, keep finding myself coming back to monitor the microserver stuff and now i have a question i can't work out the answer to.

is there a reason why i couldnt put a gfx card like the one below into a dell optiplex i've acquired and connect it to my apple cinema display?

the connector is the mini display port but the guy in the reseller shop in town reckons it wont work and that i'll need to find an apple compatible card and flash it with apple drivers.

anyone know for sure, or done it?

the alternative is to sell the acd and replace it with a good 27" monitor, but none widescreen monitors at 27" are few n far between.

What graphics options do you have on the 'plex?  Displayport, DVI, HDMI, VGA?

i think its basically got onboard vga, but im not shy of buying this card that i forgot to link in the op.

i know its not cheap, but i think it'll get moved into a newer desktop machine, should i go that way.

the ideal would be a  cheap hdmi output card and a convertor, but hdmi to display port convertors are outlawed by the HDMI organisation for some reason (films at a rough guess).

I can't offer you any advice on your setup but if you want me to fish out your old account and reset the email/password just let me know. Good to see you're around still

older apple monitors used to have a sync on green issue... but im going back to CRT days. I cant see the cinema screen having this issue - especially since Macs these days are more PC based than they was the powermac days.
My only concern would be a graphic cards being able to display the maximim native resolution of the screen.
