Anyone ever heard of vivastreet.co.uk ?

I've never heard of it, it looks like a gumtree clone?

Tis a total gumtree clone. I've been offered a job there that's all and I'm hesitating because I think they're a bit sh*t kicker.

They look very sh*tkicker to me.

Must have plenty of money, got a team in NYC and London (picadilly circus).

its been around for years. same as gumtree - full of scams!

Get a job at Gumtree instead. 

Gumtree offered me a job ages ago but I turned it down as it was a ball ache to get to - Richmond.

why not go for something finance/trading related since you're into that anyway? banks pay silly amounts for contractors and lots of them are pants.

if they're funny about finance experience then maybe try some smaller buy side firms - hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, options market makers etc...- while some of these will want people with esoteric skill sets for ridiculously low latency stuff  other firms might well be using Java etc...

there are some open source FIX applications too

am sure there will be some smaller firms out there who are prepared to pay a fairly decent rate to someone who can simply get stuff done with no fuss...

I can't get into banking. They always want banking and I don't have it. And I'm not prepared to drop down to "developer" to gain banking experience. I'm only willing to do head of development / CTO roles.
