well see anyway.

He could be, lets hope so.

People on the old forum was saying I was talking bollocks in the discussion
before the invasion of Iraq when I said Iran will be the next target.

A look at PNAC does not hurt or their principles

those nutters scare me slightly.  Once they have done over all the other countries that cant fight back properly they will be aiming at those countries they just feel like owning.   :?

Chances are its a load of sabre rattling, the American military is overstretched as it is so it could only be a quick strike and that could mean radioactive dust scattered over several other countries, not in the Yankees best interests.

Yes it would be stupid but they have done stupid things before.

Though I think some of McGoverns predictions about Iran range in the hyperbolic, I agree 100% with his opinions on the Iraq war and 9/11. Its O.I.L., nuff said.

A grain of salt is absolutlity a intelligent
approach in this case.

Unfortunately its all a big white lie. They invaded quite a few places, installed despotic regimes and backed the removal of legitimately elected governments to be replaced by dictators.

Admittedly they just couldnt be bothered to keep all the bits they conquered outside of North America (except for some small islands here and there.)

Just look at the way they treated the American Indians and African slaves.

^^^^

american war of independence was naff all to do with freedom was just a load of people who didnt want to cough up the taxes to pay for the thousands of troops stationed over there to protect them.

The concept of a load of rich white people who owned a load of black people fighting the evil british simply in order to be free is pretty much a load of bollocks.

Reread your history, Dave.

The revolution was due to many factors, but certainly it was about taxation, egregious taxation whose beneficiary wasnt mainly the financing of troops to protect the colonies, but to pay off the debt encrued during the 7 Years War. So heavy handed taxes to pay for their parents empire building with no representation naturally brings revolution.

British arrogance was the petard of victory and the one it hoisted itself upon in the end.

Serious

Maxi, it was the case of having to pay any tax without direct involvement of those coughing up the dosh in how it was spent.

Without the French the Americans would have lost anyway.

As a sideline what happens to oil prices if Iran withdraws its supplies from the world market? or worse disrupts supplies from other countries in the reigion too? Would America be able to withstand a $100 barrel oil price?

dave gets the feeling that US schools like to put the old patriotic freedom democracy slant on the whole event...
