I bought a Now TV with 6 Months Entertainment package for £15, what an absolute bargain.

Just working my way through 6 Seasons of Walking Dead.

Ive bought 5 or 6 of these as I found them the easiest way of deploying Plex clients to friends and family.

Recently I think the Amazon Fire Stick has surpassed them in terms of simplicity and interface but they dont match up on value for money.

I tried Amazon and Netflix but the content changes faster on Now TV and they are always running promotions like the one i bought!

Now TV is good, but loading of Plex is a little bit fiddly, and I don't think the latest version of Plex is available, but let me know if I'm wrong here.. Regarding FireTV for me the lack of on demand TV services is the downside, you'd be better getting the roku stick for a few quid more, on my bedroom TV currently have a now TV and chromecast for Plex, but likely to swap both for a roku stick. One of the benefits of the roku stick over the now TV is the stick doesn't use IR for the remote, so don't need line of sight.

Now TV is good for content though, it's powered by Sky so to be expected, shame you can't get full Sky Go on it though

You're not wrong.  There's not even an up to date version of Rarflix, as Plex poached the guy behind it.
They aren't releasing Plex as a sideload anymore.  Official channels only.  Even if you're a Plexpass subscriber.

I lost track of the amount of services and what's available. I've recently got onto Amazon Prime/Video and Netflix but I have now idea how to easily see whats available on each service, is there some website around that lists them all in one place?

Not sure about a site to compare, but you can get 1 month trials.. I think the best two are probably NowTV and Netflix

justwatch.com is a good indexer.

I got every streaming type thing available.
I use the xbox one a lot, set to US region - using a combination of devices I am hooked up with a load of US Subs (traded a SkyGo Account for it), including Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc. - Kodi for anything else I cant find.  :nana:

I suspect you won't get a cheaper option than a nowTV box. My bro has one, was simple to fix up. His latest was made by Sky?

Only issue - be careful how you scrape the access number card, he nearly obliterated the number.

I just can't watch TV now for more than an hour and normally don't bother even switching it on.

I fixed up my sister's main TV with a Firestick with Kodi sideloaded at Christmas to use as a basic HTPC with Sabnzbd and Sonarr on her main PC sorting out the rest, she isn't the most computer literate and has had surprisingly few problems with this set up.

I have used this is the past for Netflix: https://www.unblock-us.com/  I tend to buy a month at a time if there is something I want to watch that isn't on the UK version.

This is handy for both Netflix and Amazon: http://instantwatcher.com/

Netflix are on the case. I use unlocator & it no longer works with Netflix

Anyone considered using a VPS to navigate through the geographical based services like netflix?

Sam

I use nowtv for live skysports. I pay 7 quid and watch the match. Otherwise I'd be paying 30 quid for the month, when the month contains a single match I care about.

Serious

At that sort of price difference, even with two or three matches a month you are saving quite a bit.

Another spam mail from Sky TV offering their best possible deal, I laughed at it and put it in the bin. Telephone/internet is with Sky, which they seem to do adequately at least.

Still thinking of going Virgin next year, they now have fibre locally which would give more bandwidth.
