My brothers iRiver is nearly two years old and not a single problem, its still fighting fit, the disk on it aint skipping or jumping. Its still perfect :)

redneck

Quote from: snellgroveMy sister bought the 60GB one yesturday. Does pictures, videos, solitaire...  I think it even plays music!  - my recommendation as she was after a Sony device!  (my actual advice was: anything thats not a sony ;) )

it was a dud - wouldnt charge up. Returned it...replaced and this ones fine.. gave it a full charge without turning it on or using it, so the battery wont get f**ked!

not a good start for Apple in our household (first of their products!)

My parents are hooked on the idea of an iMac after I recommended not having an XP PC if they decided to replace, because they are just too prone to malware for people who dont know what they are doing

Who knows how good the iMac is - tbh, I find it a bit scary having the CPU and all that within the monitor, but the Mac Mini is horrendously noisy apparantly and I, myself have looked at the Macbook Pro and have been very scared by This Website

so Im going to hang-fire for 6 months or so

and even then Ill probably buy a cheap Acer and stick Ubuntu on it ;)

wait till the second editioin macbook. as for the imac you would fall in love with it pretty soon. plus it fixes itself

Badabing

i own one and have used several others and i can refute that claim 100%.

Dont listen to other people and try one for yourself.

Serious

Quote from: M3ta7h3adPah!!!! do what I do use local policy to completely lock down the computer. I did install firefox for my parents but they dont like it "its wierd". My dad isnt too bad, my mum panics whenever there is a fake advert/error message and my sister just clicks YES to everything.

I have managed to wean people I know off that and got them to select no to everything. Its easy enough to do security updates as a seperate item.

/gets sledge hammer...
