Hostsfile that should kill 99% of adverts

Obviously I havent tried it, as I dont know where the hosts type file on linux is :lol:  but I thought twere a nice find :)

probably called HOSTS :) as well I think its originally a linux thing I think :)

I just added the list to my hosts file in windows and will find out how well it works.

Can you explain how? I could really do with this, was considering switching to firefox (which i dont like) just to use its Adblocker.

Meh, thats how sites make their money. I have "nuke anything" installed for annoying stuff, and "flashblock" as flash adverts are very distracting.

just go to WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

and edit the file (copy the contet into your hosts file, well no need to have "127.0.0.1       localhost" twice though).

Its /etc/hosts.deny, btw, but I dont know what kind of formatting it likes.

I do use Adblock Plus on Firefox here, but I thought it was a nice find for the IE / Opera / all-else users out there :) who do not have such extensions for their browsers.

IE, perhaps. The current version of Opera has a content blocker though.
