Im struggling to find any relatilvey cheap external HDD enclosures with a gbit LAN interface.

I need something cheapish (<Ã,£100)... I dont care if it takes PATA or SATA drives

Anyone seen such a device? Any suggestions?

Does it need to be gbit?  I would have thought 100mbps would outpace most drives :S

Its not entirely necessary, but Ill be storing most my personal files on it and most 100mbit enclosures max out at around 8-9mb/s... could get a bit messy with 4 of us using it intensively.

you have a Gbit router/hub as well?

yup, got an entirely gbit network - would be a shame to spoil that :)

There are plenty of NAS style devices with gigabit network interfaces but none that I know of in the sub Ã,£100 price range :(

DeltaZero

Do you have an old PC you could use...there is some free software the boots from a floppy (forgotton the name) to turn it into a NAS.

EDIT: Found a few:

The Free NAS Server

NasLite

Darma NAS (dunno where youd get a copy - site says development is discontinued.
