Hi everybody..

Im taking a short break while job hunting lol, and thought id have some 3D cards to maybe upgrade to and like put a little smile back on my face :)

Basically my PC is just over a year and a half old, its a good spec and i have no problems at all with it:

- Pentium 4 - 3.4Ghz / 800Mhz
- Corsiar 1GB 400Mhz DDR @ 2-2-2-5
- Sound Blaster Audigy
- 2 x 80GB HDD (ATA133)
- etc etc

I mean when i built it AGP8X was still supposed to be great, but then PCIX came out like the next month and i was like BLINK!!!

At the moment i have a Radeon 9800XT/256MB, and im finding it a little lame for CS Source and HL2 DM, dont get me wrong its a great performer on most of my games, but its just got this crapness to it lol.

I searched overclocker.co.uk for the AGP8X range of cards, and found the following (baring in mind i am not upgrading to a PCI-X system for years tbh)... So let me know which is likely to be best. :)

1. //HIS%20Excalibur%20ATI%20Radeon%20X1600%20Pro%20ICEQ%20512MB%20DDR2%20TV-Out/DVI%20(AGP)%20-%20Retail Ã,£99.82 all inclusive

2. //Sapphire%20X1600%20Pro%20512MB%20DDR2%20AVIVO%20TV-Out/DVI%20(AGP)%20-%20Retail Ã,£92.77 all inclusive

3. //Sapphire%20ATI%20Radeon%20X800%20GTO%20256MB%20GDDR3%20TV-Out/DVI%20(AGP)%20-%20Retail Ã,£105.69 all inclusive

I was considering either 1 or 2, maybe the Sapphire card as i have never heard of HSI... but the HSI has a much better cooling system. And as for choice 3 i am assuming its more expensive cause of its GDDR3 memory, thats a drop tbh from a X1600 to a X800 :/

Any ideas?

Cheers JazzyJay (sorry MustangGT now lol!!!) :D

Sorry i messed the links up :(

Pete

The GTO is best outa that lot, I think.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

MustangGT

Really? Is it because of its memory?

I cant seem to read up on any of these cards properly :(

I tracked some reviews for the X1600 Pro AGP, and im shocked at its poorness! its barely faster then my 9800XT 256Mb, :/ which is so hard to understand. Ive noticed that the Geforce 6800GT and X850XT win the majority of benchmarks and tests in this card category of mid range budget. :(

X1600 is of the list then

Beaker

pretty much every review have of the 1600 series ive seen has said not bad card, but get the X800 series instead.
