Really? Ive heard Blackberries being called Crackberries because of supposed addictiveness. Suppose they aint very pretty though...

I was looking at upgrading to the XDA Mini S in June, so will be interested to see if you guys like yours :)

Sara - I would agree - they are really addictive - its like free, mobile instant messaging.

I checked on the enterprise server last week - we have had blackberry enterprise server for 3 months (I migrated exchange 5.5 to 2003 at a cost of Ã,£60,000 in order to facilitate the blackberry install) and one user had passed 10,000 messages through his device.

Unbelievable.

The device i have is the 7270

SIP functionality is ace i have to say. I hate the stigma.

We only got them in as one of the managers saw someone else with one

Sara, I heard a rumour that on April 1st Tmobile are introducing unlimited GPRS bundles for Ã,£7.50 a month.  While I was in the cambridge shop I asked one of the dudes there and he confirmed it.  Might be worth getting that instead of the 1mb, I know Im planning too :D

noob

Ive got an spvm500 and its wicked. however the one your looking at is apparently a bit slower. Youve obviously had a look on modaco but the xda developers site also has some usefull info. There are issues with wm5 and some old apps apparently so that may be worth bearing in mind if youve got something you need for work. Oh and theres the new m600 (yea eya i know its orange) but basically the same as mine but without the sliding keyboard but with wifi and wm5 May be woth considering.

With regards to the roms supa i would be wary. ok the orange one has loads of useless stuff on it but also some nice things that you dont get with the plain roms. i found it better to show the extended rom and then specifically install the apps i wanted from there. I find the difference negligable though.

Anyways sarah keep us posted how it goes.

Seriously?! bloody hell thats a good deal. Id rape GPRS on my phone. Granted its just GPRS so were looking at isdn speeds but woo! GPRS internet.. EVERYWHERE!

I hated the Orange stuff on my C500, so that got removed.  Although I bought the phone with no intention of using it on orange.

Apparently the O2 stuff makes the phone unstable so its best to press a certain combination of buttons and tell it to go for a "Basic" install.
You still get the O2 functionality but without the bloat.

Plus, you can overclock it to make things like skype more useable.

Ah... so its not as perfect as it sounds.

QuoteLondon, UK ? 23rd March 2006: T-Mobile?s open mobile Internet service will soon be available for Ã,£7.50 a month as an add-on to the network operator?s successful Relax and Flext tariffs.

meaning the lowest price is Ã,£27.50 a month.

funkychicken9000

How you figure?  25% off all plans at Tmobile at the mo, meaning flext 20 with unlimited GPRS comes to Ã,£22.50

Mark

my mobile contract is Ã,£110 p/m !

Sara

Woo, a nice chap at OcUK has offered me a Friends & Relations discount of 50%, w00t!

Apparently I might be able to get the 50% off the data add-on and tariff combined, so Im looking at Ã,£180s-worth of virtual credit and unlimited data for just over Ã,£20 a month - not bad!

Im happy to be his friend, a little worried about the relations bit though...

Ive had the Vario for over a month now, its not a bad phone, i takes a bit of getting used to.

The hack to unrestrice the wireless works a treat, but you might have to manually configure an IP address for the phone, as from some reason it didnt receive an IP from the router.. also youll probably have to set the power vs. performance to perfomance to get a connect in another room, but hey that fine.

The texting isnt as good as on the SPV C500 but its fairly good! The keyboard help, but tbh ive not used the keyboard too much. The annoying thing with the keyboard is using numbers, if anyone knows a way around this feel free to tell me but you have to press a button in the bottom left of the keyboard every time you want to enter a number, after a while youll probably switch back to the onscreen keyboard.

Oh you might find that you keep having to open task manager a close 10 or more apps due to sluggishness, but you do with most smartphones.

Everything else is pretty dandy, media player is cool, the layout is excellect, i really like it :D

soopahfly

Mines on its way, along with an "Aircraft grade aluminium case" of the flea.

Weve gone "Smartphone" mad at this house :D

My dads got an XDA SP, my mums got a Nokia N70 (not a proper smartphone, stupid symbian) and Ive got a Mini S :D
