Wahey, they did it :D

nice bit of kit that is.

Serious

Thing needs a bump start to 30mph before it will go by itself though.

Posted an article about this some time ago in another thread, good news they managed it though and getting a JCB to that sort of speed cant be mocked ;)

mr_roll

I neally crashed into a JCB once, due to tiredness.

Maybe that was a machine ahead of its time? But I doubt this one will be beaten for some time.

I reckon it could be, easily.  I just dont think anyone else can be arsed to pour the time & money into it.

Engine Spec Sheet (PDF).  Its the JCB 444.

So in short, the stock version comes up a bit short, against the V12 TDI of the R10, tons of torque mind.  But when you consider what the dieselmax was designed to do on the Bonneville salt flats and what the R10 has to do on the track, they didnt need/want a thumping V10.  For one it only has a 9 litre fuel tank.

Not bad 1500 Nm in one engine the R10 gives 1100 Nm

Deaths Head

"The heart of the Audi R10 TDI is a completely new V12 TDI engine with a cubic capacity of 5.5 litres ? the maximum permitted at Le Mans. Audi ventures into previously unexplored diesel-engine terrain with power exceeding 650 hp and torque of more than 1100 Newton metres from the V12 power plant."

"The results of the JCB DIESELMAX engine development work are truly impressive and the headline figures speak for themselves: with each delivering peak power of 750hp and torque of 1500Nm, the engines are over five times the power of the production version and at 150hp/litre, they exceed even motorsports applications as the world?s highest specific power diesel car engines."
