Not big by other countries standards but still it has a 7cm leg span which is huge for the UK.

7cm? pah, Im surveying a house in bedford tomorow in which the record so far is easily twice that. Frankly not happy about going in there but she is only a house spider so scary but more or less harmless. Her mate has to be good for 7cm and by the standard of that house he is relatively small. The Daddy Long Legs (spiders that is, not crane flys) in that place break 7cm across almost routinely.

Interestingly in the states they have the same house spiders we do, along with some more poisonous types. Apparently the male house spiders will attack and kill the poisonous ones, so yah for House spiders, they are our friends!

Thet should be called Harvestman spiders, I have picked ones up of more than 50mm but most of its just thin legs. Technically they arent spiders either though.
