My Haidatsu starters been wierd going on a year. Likely bad brushes, as its got 100K of mainly short city driving. Totally random. Turn click, turn click, turn clickik, turn chuffa chuffa click, turn vroom.

Mark

Sounds more like the solenoid tbh

Clock'd 0Ne

Well that was the other thing suggested by my stepdad, but how can you tell the difference?

maximusotter

Ah, mine IS likely the solenoid come to think of it, as it starts fine when jumped. guess its time to put that front end on stands and give it a poke! :D

Its worse when cold or wet.

Youre more likely to hear clicking instead of starting.
If your motor is gone/going, its likely to get lazy also - turning over erratically

Ive done three starts from cold today and its been fine. I think Ive been lucky, but the fact that it could be either of these things is now causing me concern. I really dont fancy replacing one to find the problem is with the other :(

knighty

nige the solenoid is built onto the side of the started in with the bendex (spl?)... so you got to replace the whole lot anyway :)

Mark

Most usually are. Still replaceable though! Maybe not best for a first go at it though

And definately reconditionable.

Clock'd 0Ne

Right. Let me know if you have any joy sourcing a cheap starter from your supplier then Alan. :)

knighty
