Just got a brand new Sammy digital camcorder and a brand new tape for it. I did a short clip just to try it out with the firewire and it worked fine, I tried it again and everytime I record something I get these crappy lines across the picture.

Apparently it might be that I need a cleaning tape, but its brand new ffs and its been used for about 90 seconds. Sometimes the purple comes and goes but its still pixelated.

Crap.

Could it be the one tape thats bad? If it does it with a different one Id definately get the camera replaced.

yeah Id say its the camera... Id think a bad tape / needs cleaning etc... would produce more of a random effect ?
