ive had some success with Centos in the past, but its been a while.  Probably if you havent done it before then Fedora Core or Suse will do you perfectly (unless you want a windows webserver).

I know my way around Slackware pritty well :)

Think I will run it on Slack, but need a Windows Alt for now till early December just to host some files and a SQL file to list the files on a page...

just going to use DynDNS.Org for setting it up. Tho need to remember how to stop the DynDNS from just trying to access my router and access my PCs hosts...

Mardoni

Theres a ubuntu AMP build thats pretty good. it installs to a CLI though and you have to stick the GUI on yourself :)

Poison_UK

Not too bothered about GUIs tbh. A ControlPanel for the Web Server will be put in but going to be setting my old shuttle up as the web server....

Anyone like to tell me how I get around the whole DynDNS accessing my routers Interface and actually get it to route to my PC? Its IP forwarding I need to setup aint it?

Porch Monkey

Yup, forward which ever port you need (80 for a webserver) through to your PC. Youll want to put your webserver on a static address rather than DHCP for safety but its probably not essential if you dont switch it off.

Poison_UK

Yeah DHCP is disabled on my network I hate it with a passion as it is...

Will do the router stuff after Ive eaten and had a cigi :)

Cheers for the quick help you lot :)
