Anyone still up and tuned into the Cricket?

Weve lost the toss which is unfortunate, and Harmison has already scatter-gunned it and been taken off, really hope we get at least 1 wicket in the hour Ill listen to before sleep.

Prediction for the series: 1-1 draw, England to retain the Ashes.

I didnt stay up to listen to it start, am too knackered, but I heard the last half hour or so this morning.  By the sounds of things weve been somewhat erm terrible.  Back to the good old days it seems, course we could be doing what happened over here, lose the first test then thrash them in the next 4 :D

One can only hope.

Edd

ive been following it but cant watch it or listen cause of early work hours :/

and harmisons delivery going straight to 2nd slip was funny as hell
kinda sets the tone really
flintoff is back in the zone with his 99-4, i only hope ian bell can keep his form and kevin pietersen can have one of his more sensible innings

I expect every match in the series to get a result. You recall when they were here we practically had three-day tests? With Australian weather this is even more likely imho...if England cling on to the urn they will have achieved more than they did last year

Serious

Looks like a mighty high hill for England to climb, I dont think they are going to manage with their present standard of play.

Russell

Yeah looks like too much, its far too many to even contemplate trying to reach and the aussies havent even finished yet.  However the longer they go on the less time we need to bat for, anyone want to starting winding Ponting up saying we can chase down 1000 runs but they couldnt set us a total that high cause theyre crap??? lol

We did gift them the first test last year so well give them this one too, lets just hope we get our fingers out and manage to put in a few performances and maybe even win a test.

Russell

See things are looking up already...

Got myself a set top DVD recorder today mainly to record the highlights programs on BBC but of course Ive missed the few days, anyone recorded them that I can get a copy off?

BigSoy

Havent got the BBC Highlights, but on skysports.com they have a daily 10-mins or highlights reel, its not the greatest quality, but its better than nothing.

Hoping we can last at least another couple of sessions tonight now, if we only loss this test by one session, I think the batsmen that have performed in the second innings will have made a fine knock (the more we see Pietersen owning Warne the happier well be :) )

Best possible outcome would be for Geriant Jones to bat all day and prove once and for all why hes in the team!

KP can read Warne (and Shane doesnt like it), so one hopes hes been tutoring the rest of the team. If he took 40 wickets in the last series and that could be halved...
Im looking forward to see if Cook can dig in and show what an accumulating batsmen he is (50 avg so far in tests...).

Russell

BBC Have extended highlights online a few days after, I downloaded the first days but there not exactly stellar quality.  Im getting some off emule but I have no idea what the quality is like, its just annoying I didnt think to buy a dvd recorder before now, I was more holding out for a DVD/HDD combi but there rather more expensive.

As for the cricket, well its finished and yes we lost but I though 370 in the 2nd innings was quite an achievement.  Just a shame that Pieterson couldnt stick around and add to his overnight score, but Jones getting 33 showed he can bat at least a little, if he averages that this series I for one will be happy.

Roll on the 1st for the start of the 2nd Test.

This pitch in Adelaide is what I was hoping for - no three day tests here. Hoping some of the other pitches might be equally conducive to batting now too.

Only minor problem is the small matter of actually having to win 1 test match now.

To be clear, what I meant was that a result in each test would be even more likely (rather than a three-day test).
In a way Im surprised that the Aussies have prepared a pitch (pitches?) to aid a (their) batting side; after all to win a test you have to bowl out the opposition twice, and if they lose the toss you have this situation...be interesting to see how this test goes..

Edd

glad i put a tenner on collingwood being top england batsman :D
