QuoteAcid-tongued X Factor judge Simon Cowell has turned down a cameo role in Extras.

Ricky Gervais reportedly wanted Cowell to feature in the final episode doing a karaoke version of Elton Johns hit "Daniel".

Cowell is well known for his no-holds barred put downs as contestants perform in front of him in X Factor.

Apparently, Cowell does not wish to humiliate himself and has concerns over how his singing efforts would go down.

Extras has seen a host of A-list stars spoofing themselves in the sitcom.

Celebrities such as Chris Martin and Robert De Niro have appeared in the show.

Extras season 2 is hilarious; if you have not seen it already I highly recommend you do.  The David Bowie sketch is hilarious as is the DeNiro one.
