They dance pretty close to emo and scream-core or whatever those genres are that have the meetings where you have to wear the tiny t shirt on top of the tiny collared shirt and mope collectively in your stovepipe pants. But Im still digging them halfway through "The Black Parade". The guitar is wangtastic. :D Theyre fun in the same way that I like Be Your Own Pet. This ones going to be a headbanger for the car...

Came out in October, and I predict this will be huge. American Idiot huge and Siamese  Dream huge. :ptu: Could be wrong, as Im only halfway through...

EDIT: OMG, I read the most quotable line in a review:
Quote from: emo kidi do not like this album even though i have recently turned emo.

Notice the lower case "i" and the "coming out" as it were.

:rofl::w00t::rofl:

knighty

took a girl to see em a couple or years back... they suck live :o

OMG, it gets better. We should have "whos the influence on this track game." So far Im hearing klezmer music, Pink Floyd, Queen, Foreigner (or equivalent fromage pop), Alice Cooper, Kinks, tons of Smashing Pumpkins and The Who. Im OK with that.

No wonder "emo kid" hates them.

The band or the room? Ive seen the same band twice where once you think its crap and its the sound board man that screwed up. I have also seen bands that genuinely couldnt keep time, etc.

From what I gather, this is a totally new sound. Perhaps they got emo removal spatulas and music lessons?

redneck

im not emo and i hate them.

thanks for the warning max :P

Have you listened to the new record, or are you still in the "I hate them on principle" phase?

I mean, theyre new to me as Im ten years over the limit for listening to mope* music, but I heard them randomly on the radio yesterday completely out of context. I would never have guessed that theyd formerly been part of that usually irritating scene as the music wasnt stuck in any rut and they seemed to have a sense of humor, something I hear emo eschews. :P /run on sentence...

Its funny, Ive heard a lot of folks my age that listened to early to mid 80s rock and alterno-goth say they like them as well. :P BTW, I was never one of those "gothers" Those people! Hrmpph! The nerve!

*country and western about killing your wife, drinking whiskey, and the sound of trains is NOT mope music, Ill have you know. :D

Cypher

I dont dislike them as such, but they have never really appealed to me.  I find some of it a bit over the top with the vocals and other aspects, well the single was anyway so I cant say I have given the album a fair listen.

Lately I have been stuck listening to the Dance/Electronic Rock Genre to give anything else a chance.

maximusotter

Id not heard them till they were on a "years best" show on the rather adult and pressed NPR when driving yesterday. The announcer said that theyd alienated their fans and I thought, hey thats probably good then.

redneck

i listen to them when i am forced to as i dont like to cry and cut myself over stupid, hence emo subject. they are, i despise what they are doing to music in general as they are fast becoming more hated than the new tool album.

maximusotter

You might want to capitalize your "Is" lest  someone think youre  emo.

Sounded more like arena rock to me than what Ive heard thats called "emo". :dunno:

Its not depressing either, but pretty theatrical like Alice Cooper or Kurt Weill, if  Weill did rock.

zing!

but new age american bop-rock gets straight edge, metro-sexual floppy black haired folks who kiss the same gender dancing, i will be exiting the room with my pint and laughing as hard as my legs can take me to some death metal!!

Its all theater. If youre throwing bottles of piss, then youre the  ones been fooled. Its  theater and costuming like Cooper, Ziggy Stardust, endless metal bands, Marilyn Manson, etc. No different than death metal. :P

In the end, all I care about is the disc. Live? Then flashpots and inverted drum platforms  please. :D

I understand why all the backlash, btw.  Theyve  charted and gotten airtime in the UK much more than here. I swear, if oxygen hit no.  1 over there, all the hipsters would suffocate.

Quote From The Lead Singer:
Press Reporter: So why did you bleach your hair?
Lead Dude: Because I wanted to make my self look ill.

WTF.

I mean for a band who are said to be going to be Huge with this album, I dont make much of them Ive seen them play live once and walked out. I listen to that kind of music but in varying forms, The Used for example, absolutely amazing band and well worth a listen.
Its a shame tho as the drummer from My Chemical Romance is pritty good :)

All I know is I heard them on the radio yesterday on a "best of" show on NPR. Never heard them before,  cept for the name. Could be studio trickery, but they were amazingly fun. :D If I want something more cerebral, then Ill listen to that instead. Its just rock and roll music.
