Thing is though, the star trek would actually be a good phone, compared to the Motorola FUKR

Seems they think so too..

Deaths Head

Apple will think so since they now claim ownership of all words beginning with i (apart from intel, intelli*) :)

I was thinking about the pricing on these a bit, and if they end up selling them on contracts via Voda or whoever, so they get subsidised the same way phones do now, they might become quite an attractive prospect.

Coincidence?
Perhaps more interesting would be to see what market penetration the LG one has had, if its not been that great then maybe all the adverse comment about the usability of a touch screen phone may have some grounding..

I believe Apple are actually calling their device the "iP" in an attempt to sidestep heat from Cisco. Comedy :D

neXus

they changed the name of the "ITV" for obvious reasons to "AppleTv" using the apply logo

I bet they do the same with the iphone

Trademark.  4 companies, excluding apple actually have US patents on the name iPhone.

U.S. Trademark 78581563 refers to: "Telephone that integrates a display and interactive abilities with an IP-based network to deliver both voice communication and graphic-based content and services to hotel guestrooms."
U.S. Trademark 77007808 refers to hand-held unit for playing electronic games
U.S. Trademark 78590673 is owned by White Plains, N.Y.-based Extreme Mobile
U.S Trademark 75076573 refers to "computer hardware and software for providing integrated telephone communication with computerized global information networks." (Cisco)

Serious

cisco to sue?

Nothing unusual there then.

This bores the crap out of me, what these clowns dont seem to realise is if your battery goes (which it WILL do in about half a day with all the music/videos to watch on top of normal phone usage)
You can no longer make or recieve a phone call/sms, bravo apple, bravo

Until battery technology is significantly advanced offering AT LEAST 2-3 days of heavy usage without a charge, this flashy crap is useless to me.

Only in Taiwan.

at the risk of sounding extremely geeky, that phone bears no resemblance whatsoever to a tricorder from any star trek series or film of which I am aware.

It has a passing resemblance to an original series communicator, but not really any more than any other flip phone does IMO.

Its a good point. I have a Nokia 8800 that last for, if I am lucky, 1 day without charge @ normal use !! Its sooo bad that the phone came with 2 batteries and a charging station that takes both the phone and the extra battery at the same time !

Have you watched the presentation on the Apple website? Last like 2 hours ?
