After 25k miles, the Continental ContiSportContact 2s that came with my car were starting to look pretty worn out. The rears were marginally better but one of them had a slow puncture so I decided to change all four.

Originally I was planning on getting a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s with the best price I could find around the Ã,£320 mark. Then a mate bought a set of wheels (second hand classic Porsche wheels) which came with Eagle F1s thatd only covered a couple of hundred miles for Ã,£400 which peevd me off a bit.

So I started to look for wheels on sale with newish tyres :) I have always wanted a set of BBS wheels, love the design & build quality. The Golf GTI 17 & 18" dial wheels are made by BBS as well as the Challenge wheels on the Ferrari 360 CS.

After a couple of months of looking I came across a guy wanting to sell the wheels that came with his 56 plate Audi S-Line. I hadnt realised this, but alongside the new 30th Anniversary GTI, Audi is also fitting OEM versions of the BBS Challenge wheel on their S-Line cars. They only differ to the BBS branded ones in that they dont have "Motorsport" etched into the centre of the wheel.

Theyre 18x8 (225/40), fitted with Pirelli PZero Rosso tyres which have only covered a couple of hundred miles. Managed to snag em for Ã,£450!   Quite amusing, as a set of Challenges with either the Rossos or Eagle F1s would set you back Ã,£1300 new.

Should be slapping them on tomorrow night, will need to hunt down some VW centre caps as well. Should look something like this once done
.

Theyre nice  :ptu: , I would love some bbs alloys.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Do tell what your opinion of the Pirellis is after a while - I rate the Conti SportC2 highly on the same size wheel.

Jaimz

Very tidy mate :D like em.

Have to admit I was very impressed with the SportC2s, they performed really well in the dry and wet.

Im told the Rossos stick to the road in dry like superglue, but Ive heard a few quibbles about their performance in snow/icey weather.

Ive heard nothing but praise for the Eagle F1s mind!!

i like my conti sc2s aswell but they lasted me less than 14k :/ bought some more tho  :?

Just bought some Perellis today 4 of them :) Ã,£30 a pop for Pirelli P 2500 Euro 165/70 R13 79T M+S marking.

What is M+S Marking?

Same tyres I bought a while back for my Clio, Poison.

M+S marking is something to do with them being in some European spec I think. In any case, I found the dry grip on them is good but the wet grip is excellent compared to whatever generics were on the Clio.

Im thinking of trying the P6000s if I get this Mazda.

I was sort of on the right lines, its actually Mud + Snow - a common issue in Europe :). This is why they behave so well in the wet.

Poison_UK

They behave spot on :) Best tyres ive had for the wet.. I do a lot of backroad driving as well, so thats even better :)

I would be driving a lot latelly but ive blown the Head Gasket so im replacing that in like a week :)

Right, resurrecting this thread for the second time...

Im thinking of chucking some 15" Kosei K1 TS silver alloys on the Mazda so I can get better tyres fitted, probably some F1 GS-D3s (and improve the overall look)

Should look something like this

These are lightweight, smart and fit the MX-5 nicely. Any other recommendations before I start parting with hard earned?
