Feisty Fawn question: how can I get FF to not try to play mp3 files in an embedded Totem, and prompt me on whether to download or open? Its not usually a problem when you can right click on something, but if Im at a hosting site that doesnt have a direct link, its no good. Works OK with Opera, but thats just kludgy. I tried the "content" tab and "manage file types" but there is no mp3 type nor is there a way to create one.

You wouldnt have this problem in KDE/Konqueror btw, it doesnt hide its functionality from users in the name of simplicity... :P ;)

Using KDE/Konqueror would only introduce far more problems into my life. Seriously, I try a build every six months or so. Its the biggest piece of sh*t DE on planet earth. Id rather use Windows. Tried it a couple weeks ago, and its amazing how theyve managed to clutter up things like the media players and whatnot. Its getting far worse than it was a couple years back. Konqueror is the most awful piece of software ever created. It does 10,000 things...with mediocrity. KDE has no elegance or focus. It, from a user perspective, is sh*te.

Back to your KDE suck teat, and really, thanks for the smug comment. It helped not a  bit.

Ive always found KDE to be much more usable than Gnome, i like things a little cluttered.

gimme 10 minutes and ill tell you where the settings are.

gah, i was trying to figure out how i had done it, and now i remember.  you change the action when you click on a link IIRC.  might need to put a couple of add-ins with it.
