Quote from: maximusotterWith the old old Jettas it was the notorious breaking door handles. They solved that, but now its the daggum power windows. :panic: Whirrrrr, crackle crackle. Im to drive out and drop it with my favorite east European, Emil, then ride home ten miles on the fixed gear. He fix, make goot! Woohoo!

think yourself lucky you havent got a european built golf. mine has crap door handles and busted electric window cables. love the way the cables strip themselves inside the mechanism, ruin that so you need the whole mech including motor at 100 quid...

Actually, the wagon *is* a German built VW. Some of the other models are made in Mexico and such. Build quality is actually stellar, especially the leather interior. The engine is yesterdays tech, a simple 2.0L jobber, but meant to run for a lifetime. The only issues Ive had with the car are crap front brake pads, a MAF sensor under warranty, and a couple window winders. Not unacceptable, IMO. Fuel economy could be better, but seeing as petrol is  $2.30 at the local Chavez owned pump, who cares.

Well continuing my reign of terror in this thread, it appears lubing up the runners hasnt helped, so I guess I need new pulleys or a new motor or something, the problem is getting worse the more I use the windows :(
