I know this wont interest most(any) of you but it is pretty cool too see.

Nanjing, the owners of the MG brand officially launched their new factory yesterday.

factory village

factory entrance

TF

Mg 7Z

MG 7 LWB

n series

nv6

It says on the paper: "V8 engine for the MG 7"

You know the feeling when you take something apart, put it back together and find you have a few robots left over

anyway, aslong as quality is upto scratch, which it should be (the chinese are taking this very seriously), i hope to be driving a MG 7Z this time next year.

they are good cars, i would recomend the diesel(its not the quietest tbh but it pulls nicely, is great on fuel and tax, and is cheaply modded to 150bhp) but all the engines are good, esspecially the 1.4 and the vvc160.
any questions you have get onto mg-rover.org, very helpfull bunch.

the factory looks awesome, a proper self contained village for all the workers. houses, schools, shops, cinemas, everything.

I would definatly recomend the ZS, mine is awesome, what engine you looking at?
if it the 1.8petrol 120 then i would also look at the 2.0l diesel 115 as there isnt much difference in power but a big difference in running costs.

MG and Rover arnt the same company anymore, it is abit of a mess tbh.

Nanjing Automotive own the MG name and the rights and blue prints to all the cars except the ZS, which Honda owns.

SAIC motor corp own some rights to the Rover 75 and 25, but dont own the Rover name, Ford own that, so the new ones will be known as Roewe 750 and 250.

Hrmmm intresting. Are parts still easy to get hold of for the ZS? Is the 2.0l Diesel a Turbo?

yes and yes. parts are handled by a 3rd party called Xpart so parts are in good supply.
http://www.xpart.com/html_content/OEParts.htm

the diesel engine is a direct injectiuon turbo and comes in 2 flavours 100 and 115 bhp standard, not common rail unfortunatly and can be quiet loud when revd but i like the noise, esspecially with a decent exhaust.. both are ok, but more power is easily got from a decat(£30), ITG panel filter(£25) and remap(£150), mine is running 145bhp atm and gets 50mpg, tax is £110 year IG10.

no common problems really, door handles can be abit fragile but easily fixed and the MAF sensors can wear out around 50k, but that is about it.

They are seeming very nice :) Even with modifications its well under my budget :)

How much would I be willen to pay for the 115bhp?

DEViANCE

having alook around, unfortunatly the diesels seems to be fetching pretty good prices atm. where you could find a nice low mileage petrol 120 for around £2.5-3~ the diesel 115 is going around £4~

Binary Shadow

yeah a few subtle interior and exterior changes but pretyt much the same, good engine revisons tho. Decent Head gaskets :whoops:  EuroIV emissions standards and common rail diesels.

new cars are on the way tho, new small hatch back and medium family car.
their main sales are going to be coming from china untill the new cars are out. only going to have around 50 dealers over, concentrating mainly on the TF which is built a longbridge.

at the time of the collape the TF was euros best selling convertable, and the ZT was the second most reliable sports saloon in autoexpress survey yesterday.

Serious

Is that bloke having sex with the engine?

mr_roll

I do like all of those cars, it will be nice to see how they are on build quality over in China, but Id buy one if I was in the market maybe, itd be atleast on my test drive list.

Now all they have to do is get in contact with that russian and get a few TVR V8s and theyll be laughing!

Pete

Grey and brown interior?  :gag:
I got a soft spot for the mgf, even though I hated it when I sat in one.

Best of luck to em :)
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.
