Your guess is as good as ours.  That is a terrible review. No detail of menu options, that would be very handy and probably give you and answer you require

I found a link that said it did support 1:1.  
Also I misspoke when I said 1:1, typically what you want is aspect fill.  1:1 would only be of benefit if the resolution is equal in one of the dimensions but less in the other.

Thats the screen I nearly bought (well, did buy, then bought the dell too and got rid of the 226bw).  AFAIK it doesnt do 1:1 mapping, could be wrong though.
