So, anyone done it?  Im picking my wii up from home after having been without it since christmas (exams :() and Im VERY much looking forward to having a play.  First up will be sticking in a mod chip, then Im going to mount a wavebird reciever inside, and maybe muck about with the slot illumination a bit.

Might play some games too.

So anyone got any experience with the Wii modchips?  Im yet to decide wether im going to program a PIC myself or get one of the off-the-shelf ones, wondered if there was anything in particular I should bear in mind?

Id look into the Open Source ones

I got the easy solder wiikey - Bitch to install as the Easy Solder made it more difficult & I ended up desoldering it & then doing it the old fashioned way with wires.

I some how get the feeling, that I could be screwed for more money with future updates. At least the Open Source ones will stay free :-D

Not done the Wavebird mod myself, simply because Im not prepared to pay the stupid amounts they go for atm.

Whats good with the mod chip, is that it supports multi game DVDs, so you can put more than 1 gamecube backup on 1 dvd. Very handy for gamecube games that will prob not be used as much.

If you can bloody get one, its a right nightmare still

I will get one for the parents near the end of the year as a present for xmas or something earlier then play it myself but I am saving some money when i get it for the 360 elite in the winter.

That and the hd-dvd drive, by that time MS confirmed it will be shipping with the better quieter fans and drive as well as the smaller nano chipesets. ANd that should do me for games (hope to god my hand works by then) and movies and media
