Thats with ddr1, stock heatsink & without any effort at all.

The ddr is a big bottle neck but I dunno if Im keeping the chip or not so Im leaving it for now.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Walrusbonzo

Ive had a couple stable at 3GHz with stock cooling and only minimal voltage increases. :D

Nice :) I heard they were good for that speed but I only got a bargain bin motherboard, no voltage increases and apparently it tops out at 300mhz.

You need to get the latest version of CPUid :D

Excellent.

Most C2D seem to hit 3ghz.
My 6300 sits @ 3ghz on standard v/core , im still using watercooling  it can cope with this with the fans off.
My max  Orthos (dual Prime)stable.
Note! Big piccie.

475 fsb seems to be the limit of the mobo but to be honest i have not played with the overclock for months.

edit: My superpi is like 20secs behind that - the chip seems stuck at ~2.6ghz, need more fsb. Its still bloody fast tho and Ive not seen it hit 100% useage yet. Bargaintastic  :ptu:

Sounds like you,ve got 1 off the Asrock Dual Vista jobbies , fsb is normally limited to about 300fsb with these mobos.DDR is not that much of a limiting factor (performance wise) with these mobos , DDR2 is only slightly faster. The chipset itself is not particularly quick but very versatile.
I did have 1 for a while but quickly changed to a Giga DS4.

Deaths Head

At the moment I am at the tedious stage of installing all of my apps on a new pc.

Core2Duo E6600, 2GB patriot ddr2-800, Gigabyte 965p-ds3, X1950 GT, Raptor 150GB.

Performance wise it kicks the arse out of my Athlon 64 3400, 1gb ram.  Ispent another £75 yesterday buying Noisebreaker fans for it and an Arctic Cooling fanless hs for the x1950GT.  The normal hsf fan is not up to the task and has to run the fan at high speed making it the loudest thing in the new build.

One thing that is confusing me on the ds3, xp reports simple PCI communications device under unknown devices.  I have no idea what it can be.  I dont have a modem in the pc.  The network is Marvell and already have the drivers installed.  I hoped Windows Update would shed some light but it hasnt shown anything for it.

[edit]Well, fixed it.  Stuck the motherboard cd in and told it to scan for driver.  Apparentl it was "Intel Management Engine Interface"  Bizarre that it didnt get that from the Intel Inf install :-/

Wow the onboard audio sucks
