DEViANCE

There has been a dark line on the side of my LCD for a while now, but I think it is getting worse and there is another faint one coming a couple of inches, to the right of it now.

it is most visable on black and dark colours, but you can see it on all if you look. You cant see it when the screen is off.

any ideas why/what is happening?

tis only about 18months old.

strange, it hasnt always been like that and the tv hasnt moved (as far as i know) since i got it.

ill get in touch with samsung and see what warrenty i have.

just found the books, 12month warrenty.

ill give them a ring tomorrow. £800 for a TV to last 18months isnt on.

Its an lcd, some last you till you get a new one, some have an issue and go to early, how it is aint it.

My dell went funny, got a new one, run as long no burning or anything like the other.
My acer - never had anything wrong
My (mind you its just a cheap one) lcd in my room - fine
One make of old crt we had - had 3 under warranty, just kept blowing up

You will have to give feedback on the return/replacement/repair procedure goes, would be good feedback for folk

Well.. you can always press the EU law of it being 2 years

actually....

I know a guy whos plasma screen went bang after 2 years... he had problems with the shop he got it from wanting £400 to fix it... so he phoned the manufacturers.... who said theyd replace any screen that fails within 6 years !   (as long as it fails on its own, and you didnt pour water on in etc...)

plus.... cant remember the actual wording..... but anything you buy has to be fit for the task etc... and should be expected to work for a reasonable amount of time etc...

its always a risk with any TV - my dad found that out last year when a 28" CRT (samsung) he had for about 14 months blew up. Samsung wouldnt do anything - its just luck of the draw. Definitely give them a yell though but this is exactly why I refuse to spend large ££s on a TV - no one can guarantee life span even if you look after them.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

everything has a lifecycle, if you aggressivly use it, expect it to wear out quicker.

DEViANCE

they said they cant do anything, gave me a number of a technician and said the screen will probably need replacing. SOunds Expensive.

worth having a read & if still no joy from the korean ball squeezers, try one of those no win / no fee lawyers

or just spend £100 on a new screen which for 99.99% is the british way
