Any decent free players around, i tried one lastnight and it simply refused to play my disc, it said i needed to set the region code on the drive, the drive was already set to region 2 and the dvd i wanted to watch was region 2 so..? clueless really about that :P

So looking for a free alternative to power dvd

vlc.

Plays anything, with no need of any codecs or anything.

Media Player Classic, Easier to use than VLC. Comes with most "codec packs" out there.

VLC should work with anything.  You may need to change the video output on vista.
