When did they cap it? God damn baskets!
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

brummie

I really hate the way BB has become cheap and they are now squeezing more money out of people by capping/limiting usage.

Bloody rip off britain at its best   :x

i feel a migration coming on.  50Gb i wouldnt mind, 15Gb im _not_ going to even consider.  last month in peak timei chewed 25Gb and wasnt even hitting it as hard as other months.

Its not as simple as that. They just observe your peak hours usage and if its over the guide lines theyll warn you, if you keep doing it they put you on a contended pipe with the other rapists :P You get unlimited GBs on off peak times though, so you need some sort of time-managed download software Id guess.
The big problem with this sort of thing is it makes estimation of one ISP against another quite difficult, as theyre all doing different things.

5 of the jobs ive got applicaitons in need me to work from home.  Last month i "chewed" 22Gb including one single torrent allmonth (Ubuntu).  I downloaded a few game updates, and moved some largish dBases and lot of documents and ZIP files where exchanged between me and a small group of us that are doing some development and testing.  This is without me having to worry about getting a job where i have to VPN in for after hours support.

50Gb i wouldnt mind, 15Gb i do mind if im going to have a constant VPN on the evenings im doing on-call support.

That sounds suspiciously like business use to me...;). Since Plusnet are only proposing to throttle P2P stuff all the rest like your file transfers/VPN etc should be alright?

yeah, it would be business use _if_ i was getting paid for the stuff im doing :\

i would go for a business connection, but BT wont allow me to have one unless I move the phone line over to a Business Product!

Anyhow, 4Mb from Telewest has just been ordered.  Ã,£40 for telephone, 4Mb internet and 40 channels.  They might be a bunch of wankers, but at least they dont look like they are putting serious limits on the connections yet. Plus as they own theirown infrastructure they cant really blame BT for price rises.
