Looks like AVG free has been withdrawn too, any reasonable alternatives available?

Ive used Avast! for the past couple of years based on a recommendation from here, never had a problem. The home version is totally free and all you need to do is apply for a new key once per year (fill in a name/email address form).

Quite a while ago they moved to a sub domain for the free version

The free version is still up and running and for me the lightest of the free stuff currently around in terms of resources

Avast is the next one I would go for

I would also run one of those online scans to just make sure you not got one of the anti virus hider ones since you been swapping. I run one once a month just in case, Only ever picked up these java things which not really a virus but always a good idea to turn these once in a while
