Quote from: DEViANCEno, what a horrible tinny nasty little car

i would get something like this

Thats under the 1.6L tax bracket isnt it? which means road tax is like £62 per 6months ? Although insurance on that particular car is expensive for me so thats a no go

I am thinking of a Fiat Chiquechento, half my insurances costs at the moment and small and easy to park.

Mark

buy an awesome AX 1.4 diesel.
Unsafe as hell, but does over 100mpg
There is NO CAR you can buy nowadays that can match that...

mr_roll

AX is a possibility as its damn cheap insurance.

I cant seem to find any Diesels on sale, but I think the 1Ls will be fine as thats almost half my insurance cost at the moment.

I figure the human body is not designed to stop from any speed to 0mph in a short space of time, so its just as dangerous in most cars. I know this is a silly way to look at safety but I dont have the money for a new ca :(

I would actually like a Fiat Bravo, they are really nice looking but to much for me :( I might just save up and wait a little longer.

Who is it that has the little Cinquechento?

I would like his and everyones opinion on this:

Ive just gone to drive it and it seemed fine on the quick drive I did.

The tyres are all in good condition, the suspension seemed firm, but not to firm to be a problem.

I couldnt hear any strange noises from it and they wanted £175 for it.

Oh the handbrake is a problem and the brakes seemed very soft. So I think itd require the rear and front brakes doing.

The appeal of this car is the insurance is half the cost of my Volvo and I really dont need my Volvo, its big and Ive never needed, apart from CrumBallRally, to use the size.

soopas got one, the handbrakes are quite common problems iirc, and very akward to sort i think.

soopas the best person to speak to, i think he had to spend a good bit of money to get his straight tho.

Mine was £350ish, for a P-reg sporting.

Problems Ive had....

Gearbox (Realistically, could have had new selector cables,) Reconditioned.
Welded the drivers seat.

Thats it really.

Handbrake needed doing for MOT, the linkages are mild steel so sieze quickly , fiat wasnt brainy enough to bless us with a decent setup.  Other than that, its a cheap ass car.  My missus can get 45mpg out of it driving like a granny and I get 39mpg driving the Traffic light GP.

One guy on the fiat forum regularly gets Puntos for sub £200.

Despite spending a little cash on this one, we both love it.  its nippy and economical enough, and always looks cheerful when you see it out the window.  Who can resist the red seatbelts, semi sporty seats and the dinky steering wheel.  Theres a good video on youtube of clarkson in a cinq vs a cooper.  Cinq catches the 1.3 cooper on the straights but the cinq isnt quite as good handling.

mr_roll

I couldnt see any rust tbh at all over the car.

I personally think itd be a good buy, do you Soopahfly ?

Thanks for that link to the fiat forum, much appreciated some good info there.

Personally, Id sign up to the FF and ask them.  A sporting is still cheap insurance.
