Well, I finally managed to get the car lowered back down on to the engine. Here are a few shots - all totally filthy !

Quick pic of one of the polyeurethane engine mounts (Filthy with rubber grease) - not tightened up yet as I have to tighten the cross member up first that its attached to, and before I do that I need to put the driveshafts on again.

....although... I just realised maybe thats not where mark visits sometimes... and I just thought of if because we deliver to a few customers there.... not sure... but its somewhere round here !

The girlfriends parents live there (Hamsterley), its near bishop auckland.

Beaker

what type of power are you expecting out of it?  :?

Mark

well - lets put it like this

At 1.0 bar of boost with the same turbo but no head work others have been getting 450-500bhp

Ive built the engine to take 2 bar all day and I have had substantial headwork, bigger valves, more agressive cams

low boost (1-1.4 bar) Im expecting 500-550 and at 2 bar Im hoping for who knows (Probably around 600-650 flywheel)

Guys over on mr2oc in the US are getting 700 rwhp (So about 750 or so flywheel bhp) with the same turbo at slightly over 2 bar. But those engines dont last long!

A few worries are the clutch I have only supports up to 450lb/ft torque - I dont expect to exceed that but it could still be a weak point. I need a torque bar as well to stop the thing twisting out of its mounts - theyre already uprated but I still think they wont take it. Wheels and tyres will also be a problem.

knighty

so just a little better than the 450bhp you were origonally aiming for

Mark

aye - side effect of a turbo 4 sizes bigger than i originally planned for:)

knighty

planned for ?

planning ?

PAH!   real men make it up as they go along :-p

Mark

well, I made the fuel system up as I went along!

knighty

well.... Ill let you off just this once then.... and I guess the fact that you planned for one turbo then bought a much bigger one counts for something.... ok ok... youre a man again
