The range rover just went for £4750.. so what do i get?

Got no car that i can drive now so quicker the better.

Not looking to spend all that but can if i find sommit good.

Want diesel and something flashy, not to worried on power as its the to and from work car.

thinking BMW 320d or Merc C220 or Audi A4/A6 TDI at the mo.

Any suggestions?

Mark

the c classes for that dough arent good, the c class was a bit of a sh*tter until the newest version, and Im hearing (and seeing) bad things about the older 320ds and turbos.

Audi would seem the sensible choice but for that dough your limited to older models, or sky high milers.

Identify something decent, and recent that suffered at the hands of massive depreciation, OR was popular with the fleet buyers.

youre going to end up buying an omega estate anyway :)

Edd

try for an a6, as the model previous to the new one was around for a while longer than the previous model a4, but doesnt look as sh*t as the model before the previous a4 model
if that makes sense?

what im trying to say a 1998 A6 doesnt look as crap as a 1998 A4

Mark

thats true - the 98 a4 looks stupid

Edd

it definitely looks aged thats for sure, the only one id go for is the S4!

Binary Shadow

cheers guys, and no i wont end up with an omega estate, i had a saloon and didnt really like it

considering the lack of choice i may go petrol, 2.5 would be the biggest id go to tho

Binary Shadow

tempted to try an Alfa 156 (cheap at £2250 for 2000/2001) or a subaru legacy 2.5

soopahfly

I was just about to suggest an Alfa, the depreciations horrific but the cars are nice. I keep looking at the 156 sportwagons. and the JTD endines are very good.

Binary Shadow

keep hearing about reliability problems with alfas

soopahfly

The older ones perhaps, but not-so now.  Funny how when they were sharing parts with GM they had reliability problems...  Just make sure you get a post 2000 model.

Any car you buy today will be as reliable as the next tbh, and alfas are a nice place to be.  Flashy without trying to be a bellend in a traditional marque.

Anyway, if your wanting a diesel, it has to be the 2.4l 200bhp model :D
Selespeed models have the F1 style gear shifters. Cloth seats are made by Recaro and the leathers are Momo.

If youre considering those you could consider a Skoda, they are good cars these days.

Edd

could get an older octavia vrs for that i think

Serious

At least half the taxis around here are Skodas and if the taxi drivers get them then you can bet they are reliable, good value and economic.

Jaimz

Lexus IS200 in budget?!

Jaimz
