Title: Canvas
Post by: Binary Shadow on March 21, 2012, 19:56:32 PM
I'm considering getting a photo or 2 printed onto canvas but I'm not sure, its quite costly..

Anyone done it? pleased with the result?

Edit: the photo looks quite noisey at 100% as well... how bad would that show up?

There are a few threads on canvi :)

I've used http://www.1clickprint.com/ (http://www.1clickprint.com/) and I was happy with the result, but the reason for picking them was that I needed a custom size as was doing a pano.

WRT noise you might get away with it a bit more on a canvas, just as it's not flat, but to be honest, I'd blow it up and run some noise reduction on it first then send it to be printed..

One thing to consider is that many of the cheaper canvas places use shallow frames, 1click us good quality frames.

Someone else may be able to share their experiences... what size are you looking for out of interest?

I used photobox for a canvas print when they were on offer. Wasn't totally happy with it when it arrived as there was a small bit of ink that had flaked/scratched off on one of the corners. I emailed them and they sent another one out absolutely free. They may not be the cheapest but customer service was top notch.

The frames were also quite nice. I noticed the original print came with pegs to "tighten" the canvas if it got loose in transit. The replacement didn't though.

A3 is just a bit too small for me I think.
