So I was playing with the extension tubes I got the other day with my 50mm F1.8 and one thing I noticed was dust :(

And well as you can see Ive got dust on my sensor, what can I use to clean it? Preferably anything thats either a) lying about the house (cotton wool swabs?) or b) cheap and where from?

never, ever, for any reason, ever at all under any circumstances consider the mearest possibility of squirting compressed air at your sensor!

some propelant is fairly likely to come out with the air, at which point you have just squirted God alone knows what liquid onto your precious sensor.
Get a bulb blower if you want a relatively non-invasive technique. These are cheap and wont through rubbish at your sensor (unless you use them in a dusty environment, but its pretty obvious you do it somewhere as dust free as possible right?).
If that doesnt shift it there are a lot of cleaning solutions on the market
compressed air can cause vapour liquid.. get one of those little squeezer things with a soft brush on the end

i have a compressor and can wind the pressure down to less than you can blow, id be using that
Dust is the enemy of every SLR camera on the planet, and worse for digital.
First recourse is a blower bulb, hold the camera up so the hole is pointing down. Hopefully this will work, if not then the follow ons get progressively more expensive.
While you should get it out easily enough there comes the time when you cant and it has to go in for a professional clean. Which is partly why I avoided buying one. Still happy enough with my FZ-20.
there is a shop in chester-le-st that does it for about Ã,£30 as their a Nikon authorized repair place warenty isnt an issue

Useful to know, I dont think its bad enough to need a proper clean Ill have a go first but for future reference whats the name of the place?

might as well buy a Lumix like Serious then, it has a better lens than the one which comes with the 350D.
Dust is the price you pay for interchangeable lenses.
BTW I wouldnt use air from a compressor either for fear of lubrication oil

No compressed air but Ive got a small plastic bulb type blower that might work, so Ill give that a go and see if its any different.

if youre confident in it, go ahead, but advising "compressed air" without qualifying the level of equpment you need to make it a good idea is not very sensible.
