Its taken me some time but I now have one :)
Never really needed one before (as housemates/parents always had one) but as work are sending me to Australia for a month Ive stumped up the cash and bought a Nikon D50.
Picked it up today, its been a while since Ive touched my 35mm SLR so its gonna take me a while to get reasonable again.
Anyway - excellent camera, will post some photos when I have some good ones.

excellent matey. bet you cant wait till you get to use it in Australia :D
I got into photography after using a Nikon D2H at work and decided to get a D50 off Amazon about a month ago as my first DSLR and Ive very impressed with it especially for the price.
If you after a carry case I got one of last week and it fits it with the 18-55 lens you get with the camera perfectly, and it was only Ã,£16.99.

Have seen the D50 for under Ã,£400 with 18-55mm lens. Canon 350D is a bit more expensive but you get 8MP rather than six so it depends on what you want. Both are excellent cameras and can produce very pleasing results.
