be kind
:D :D :D
I would be kind but I wish people would buy a camera because they want to take pictures of things theyve seen, rather than buy a camera then wander around looking for things to take pcitures of, like flowers and insects.....
You gotta test the thing!

And by the looks of it, the meterings all twattled.
Might want to check and see if it has a choice of center weighted metering or something. They fly pic is 2 stops underexposed at least.
first slr so i am getting used to the available settings etc.
hopefully will improve

Yes. I want more German Utilitarian photos of flowers that convey the species but add no romance.
TBH if you dont like the picture, no one is forcing you to look at it.
No use waiting until you have seen things to take pictures of before you get a camera, if you do that then you already missed a whole bunch of shots. Thats like saying "people should wait until they have an Essay to write before they buy Word" (or in my case, download Lyx)
Youve missed the point. A camera is a means to an end. If youve got subject matter you want to record (for whatever reason), youve a reason to use it. What Im talking about is people who buy cameras and then look for a reason to use them.
Im not intending to imply specific criticism of Sweenster here.
A good example of the opposite would be Brummie taking pics of his kids sack race, which I thought were excellent.

which is EXACTLY the reason ive stopped myself on more than one occassion from buying an expensive DSLR... i would never use it, or id need to look for reasons to use it...
I have a reason, gonna be using it for taking photos of the re-enactment group i am part of. Just wanna know how to use the camera well enough before i start.
Ok, Ill be kinder :D
You first pic of the flower has lots of light on it, which is good - its a decent picture. The second one doesnt, and isnt worthy of posting imho.
Get the light on the subject - this is the most important rule.
If youre going to take pictures indoors (unless your group works outside), this is going to be your greatest difficulty.
Ceathreamhnan, Everybody goes round taking random photos when the buy a new camera, you gotta learn to use it somehow!
The top one is indeed a good picture :)
The second one isnt bad but its not special in anyway.
and yeah - Im sure I went around snapping away when I first got my 350D too :) lots of buttons to play with
the colours in the first one remind me of slide film cross processed in C41 developer
