Main thing is get out and actually use it. If you dont know anything much and really need some training then go for the beginners course.
Most of the time it should be set to program. Take lots of photographs.
If you need speed for racing and similar then try Shutter Priority and set as high a shutter speed as possible.
Remember to take lots of photies
For things like landscapes go for Aperture Priority and set as small an Aperture as possible to give depth of field.
The camera should tell you if you have it wrong.
Did I remember to say take loads of photographs somewhere? Doesnt really matter what they are of, just keep producing them. Even ones of rocks aid you in training and if they are c**p you can delete them.
