Well its photography instead of imaging but hey its close enough!
Got an idea for a sig banner relating to travels based off a few photos, the idea would be a banner strip but I have no idea whats an acceptable width for a sig image these days? I mean once upon a time you had to go under the assumption that everyone in the world is running at 1024x768 so design everything to look good at that rez but things have changed... so what now?
I think we'd probably be best sticking to that size, it's all well and good for those with proper computers but now there is smart phones, netbooks sanitary pads etc.....
I've not set a max width, this forum seems intelligent enough to put a scrollbar on the particular offending image/text in posts that are huge - that's nice.
I did set a max height of 100 pixels on images though, to prevent monster sigs. I think that is a reasonable height. Common sense would dictate definitely no bigger than say 800/1024 for the kind of sig image you're talking about. It's very hard for me to guage on a 24" screen at 1920 res though, so try it and see I think.
Well it was more of a curious question than anything, i just didnt know where to start. Obivously when you have a bases you can play around until its right but there is no point that bases being overly big or annoyingly small to start :)
Height isn't an issue, I hate those huge big sigs / banners. I'm running at 1366x768 (17" Laptop) & 1280x1024 (17" External) at work and 1920x1200 (24") & 1366x768 (12" Netbook) so have plenty to test on :)
If you find a happy max size that's suitable let me know and I'll make that the sig size limit too :)
It would be great nige if you could provide some dimensions for wha the avatar dimensions are, if you guys are happy with only a certain sig image format etc.
How are images in posts handled? You going to set the scaling so images only have a max width and height?
There is an add-on that makes a nice looking thumbnail and full lightbox popup.
It is to what people prefer but will be good to know for the new theme.
Avatars I think I mentioned in the other thread are max 150x150. I've not set a limit on post images at all, I figured people would be sensible with that and thumbnail or fullsize as appropriate.
