cool project, what engine you using? and wth is on the oil filler?

Its a 2l pinto and the fire extinguisher is to catch any oil that spits out of the rocker cover (without it Oil splashes onto the exhust manifold and bellows smoke everywhere)

cool, why dont you just get a filler cap? also why such a heavy engine in such a light car? its screaming out for a k-series tbh.

your talking complete and uter crap, being a rover fanboy aside the k-series engine is perfect for light weight cars like that one. full with oil they weigh less than 100kg, have excellent power per litre and are very drivable.

HGF is unheard of in the pre 96 engines, after that they can be abit dodgy due to BMW cost cutting but once fixed with the revised gasket they dont go again. post 2002 are alot better, but the 2005 land rover developed gasket solved all probs and not a single one has been reported to have failed.

The filler cap is a breater and hence it beeing replaced due to leakage.
We used a Pinto cuz its very cheap, very reliable and a doddle to fit and work on.

And I dont like K-seiries engines.

I think id rather push it than put a rover engine in it.

The ones that end up in landrovers however.....still benefit from a ford V6 transplant.

All Ive changed on it externally is the rear clusters to P1 GSI ones, You can see them in the picture.

Still not as good as the Vauxhall XE or the PSA D6C - most notably the latter.

The good old overrated redtop! Its good Ill give it that, but the D6C has it beaten on std power and potential, but most importantly, sound!
