First off I havent seen it yet...

BUT...having read the reviews which all say how ace it is, Im left wondering, when you read these reviews they say its awesome, but it does have some flaws, and proceed to then say the negatives which in any other film would have it crashing at the box office.

It seems that its just going to be popular on the ground that "it looks nice" and "Its Cameron". Not because its a good film.

I mean:

Pros:
It looks nice
Its 3d

Cons:
Its too long (the reviews Ive read seem to say this)
The score is supposedly a bit...unoriginal
The story is pretty unoriginal too (In pocahontas or however its spelt, isnt there a guy that goes over to the natives side?!)

Im certainly not sure that I believe any of the hype :|

isnt everyone blue in that film?

They better hope it does good, its the most expensive film ever made. So thats going to be a lot of kissing.

Watched the trailers, Pocahontas (you got the correct spelling first try) was instrumental in getting the natives to accept the invading Europeans, not that the indians would have won in a battle. This looks a bit more like Star Trek: Insurrection. There have been a couple of novels its even more like.

Graphics look good, although a bit overdone. Hopefully the script will be better than I expect.

If the time is full of good script and action I wont mind sitting through extra.

Finally saw this on Friday night.

Very impressed actually...enough to want them to do a few more films or expand on the universe in some media format or another.

Not too sure about the 3D though. Its the first 3D film Ive seen and if thats the best the tech has to offer currently I think I am happy sticking with 2D for now. Sure there were moments which were quite good, but the best use was the subtle bits such as leaves and rain drops. The in your face 3D just looked like several layers of imagery on top of each other, rather than being properly 3D, which I found ruined the illusion enough to put me off the technology.

I saw the 2d version - though its was great.
Glad I didnt watch 3D - With weird eyesight (I need a prism for correction) I get eyestrain looking at magic-eye pictures.

Story is average, characters predictable, but the rest was awesome which lifted it to a great film.
