Were you drunk?

Expecting a shortage?

Almost certainly the best made phone out there at the moment, and unlikely to be beaten because no one else can command the same prices.

A lot of the andoid phones have NFC, but where is the real world implementation of that everywhere?

It's getting a lot more popular, and it's chicken and egg really if all the manufacturers included NFC, NFC would progress faster than if no one adopted it and relied on separate cards, I guess they are waiting for it to progress before adopting it (new phone will be out in another year anyway)

Obviously the main shout is the 4G, although it'll drain your battery I expect and unless you are in one of the areas they are launching it you wont see the benefit (I am BTW :) )

Well you know apple, Wait till something is out there enough, might not be totally everywhere and really taken off but enough to be viable. Do your own thing in that regard, claim your the first and best and then it really becomes huge everywhere as a technology not just from apple.
Never like when they do their claims but at least they do really kick things off.

It is funny how some say it is underwealming, like I said you wiill not see anything WOW in phones for a while now till a peace of tech really becomes viable that is that next leap.

- Very thin and very light, considering what it has in it - pretty big.
- Quite a bit improved camera, front camera now 720 as while both being thinner
- LTE Etc in one chip and not a battery hog, why Apple waited and did not do it when it was a separate chip
- New A6 chip is quite a nice boost
- longer screen for 16/9, not wider for a reason so your thumb in one hand can travel across the screen, wider screen does not really mean better for many, I would agree with this concept.
- New speaker finally
- 3 mic's and improved mic's
- Longer battery life even though bigger screen, LTE, A6 etc..
- Not really announced but from the leaks shown - different built type for the home button, better to press apperently
- New connector, both ways plugin which is always nice
-
I like the look of the new white one and seeing how quick the camera was taking pictures etc... I think it is a good level of polish of things that needed improving, pretty much all of the changes were those little grips that annoyed me with my 4.

Yep it is not WOW OMG! but I think they did the improvements I think are things I would want to see.

The screen is very slightly better than the S3 and One X in terms of DPI (312 vs 326) but its also 0.7" smaller.

I expect the lightness in weight is impressive technically but is 18g lighter than a One X impressive considering the smaller form factor? Similarly, 1.0mm thinner than the S3?

It is nice to see Apple still making quality items but I was hoping that they would improve on the current generation of phones, and pending excellent battery life or exceptional performance (Id be surprised if the A6 outperforms the S4 snapdragon) there's nothing new to see here.

Maybe we have spoilt in the past with revolutionary improvements but in my mind that was what helped justify the price tags. When its the same tech as current 'free on contract' phones it doesn't drive market innovation or justify its sky high prices.

What revolutionary improvements?

The first iPhone failed to have even ancient 3G tech in it.
The next only brought it up to 3G standards when phones were already up on 3.5G tech
The 3rd brought a subtle upgrade in processor and most of the upgrades were software based which the jailbreak community had already ported to earlier models. Bring capabilities to the iPhone that every other phone already had back years ago "holy sh*t I can record video!"
The 4th brought Siri... Another software upgrade that only worked with network connectivity. My O2 XDA had voice command on windows mobile 5... Years later apple still haven't got it working properly.
The 5th brings us the A6 processor to offer similar performance to phones that were released 6 months ago, and a slightly larger (but still smaller than the competition) screen.

Yeah... Revolutionary. The real Che Guevara  of the phone world. Well I suppose fanboi hipsters everywhere are indeed emblazoned with the apple logo, at least that's one thing it shares with the Che.

Well.....I couldn't decide which colour would be best really, so got them both to choose from, then will sell the other on. It's no risk really money wise, as I can either give it back to apple for a refund, or sell it on ebay etc.

Also even if the above was true, just be because it had some shortcomings, that doesn't mean that there's no innovation? Typical anti-apple fan boy post to be honest, they basically kicked off the touchscreen smartphone market, I'm not saying they were the first, but they were the first to do it well!

*this statement is not based on fact, this is my own opinion and I'm happy for someone to show me a phone released before that wasn't sh*t to use, I'm also not an apple fan boy, I have both an android and an iPhone and I prefer the iPhone, but I can appreciate the benefits of both and also the drawbacks.

If apple release a new phone they are very quick to post on the net saying how sh*t it is, but when Samsung or htc release one a lot less people feel the need to post, despite that more often than not you'll see less innovation, also strapping a larger screen on the phone doesn't make it better, some phones are starting to look very trigger happy in this respect!

Sorry for the little bit of a rant, but the mac vs non mac argument is getting very old (from both sides not just the anti apple group) often I'm sure that people who have these arguments haven't used both

Really? I'm still yet to be corrected.

It's an iPhone. It's in one form factor, it's behind the curve for cutting edge because apple always is and it looks pretty.

Me I own an iPad because I do indeed think apple have cornered the market for tablet devices the ipad3 is done very well indeed.

You can say many things about apple products but there is absolutely diddly squat revolutionary about their iPhone line of products.

It's all been done before, just apple shove it in a very well presented package and market it to the masses.
